Bartering For Advertising

Have you ever thought of offering advertising on a barter basis? Depending on the advertiser and your web site's niche, it can reap great rewards. For example, say you have a travel site like mine (Romantic Oregon Coast Vacations at http://www.romantic-oregon-coast.com) and a advertiser contacts you (or you, them) about advertising on your site. They are the owner of a regional Bed and Breakfast. Aside from a money figure, you also suggest a week stay at their Bed and Breakfast, free of charge, in exchange for 6 months to a year of advertising on your site. This is not actual money coming out of their pocket, so they love the idea. You scratch their back and they scratch yours.


This is a real-life example. I recently did this and, although I received no money for it, the time away was fantastic and provided me a great rest that I may otherwise would not have been able to afford. It was well worth it.


Think about it when you contact an advertiser. Do they offer a service you could use? Have fun with it. Work is meant to be that way. ;)
